Foxy, my feral cat, was born and raised in the wild. He is extremely cautious of people and is only social with me. For two years, I was merely "the food lady," but now I'm Foxy's very best friend. This handsome male cat comes inside at least once a day for back scratches and pampering. During our snuggle time, I like to press my face into Foxy's beautiful fur because he smells so good. Like all cats, Foxy keeps himself very clean. And to top this off, he wears the scent of grass and all things botanical.
Foxy smells like where he spends his time.
This is also true of humans. It's certainly true in the natural, and I believe it's true in the spiritual realm as well. We pick up the scent of good and evil—metaphorically, that is.
Christians spend time in the unsaved world for many important reasons. But we need to wash in God's Word at the end of each day and go to bed smelling swe...
The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory - Isaiah 6:19 ESV.
God has been very talkative lately, and I am thrilled with that! I love hearing what's on His mind for me each day, and I love getting answers to my questions.
Rising and shining is still on my mind (see Nov. 5 post), and God is telling me more:
Christians "arise and shine" through worship. This is where we connect with God on a very personal level. During worship, we encounter Him in new ways, and we form a bond of love that is strong. This bond is what God deeply desires to have with us.
Christians "arise and shine" by faith. No matter what our situation looks like in the natural, it is our faith in God and His Word that keeps our feet on solid spiritual ground. And only on this solid ground are we able to arise and step into our destiny. Needles...
How often do you think of times gone by, wishing you could go back and do a few things differently? Or do you look back with longing to circumstances that were a lot more comfortable? God has blessed us with a capacity to remember our past, but He doesn't want us dwelling there.
TODAY is a glorious gift from the Lord! Every minute of it!
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it -
Psalm 118:24 ESV.
Christians don't need to look backward with either regret or desire. And we certainly don't need to be stagnant, allowing yesterday to dictate what happens today. Every new day is filled with tremendous potential for growth and change.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new - 2 Corinthians 5:17.
Today is a perfect day to "arise and shine." The glory of the Lord is truly upon His people. But, if you doubt what I say, then please consider God's word on the subject:
Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! - Isaiah 60:1 AMPC.
I like how the Amplified Classic Bible gives added insight into the familiar, childhood words of "rise and shine." This should leave no doubt about God's desire for us.
On a day when I needed reminding of these words, the Holy Spirit quoted them to me. He purposely cited the AMPC version to convey the extra meaning. I was excited to hear this in my spirit. It's always thrilling to hear from God. I thanked Him for His direction, and I thought for a while about "rising and shining." Bu...
