You, who have shown me great and severe troubles, shall revive me again, and bring me up again from the depths of the Earth. You shall increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side – Psalm 71:20-21 NKJV.
Many can agree that God has shown us "great and severe troubles," just as the psalmist writes of. The Lord has excellent reasons for allowing distresses to come our way. They may arrive for correction, sanctification, enlightenment, or a number of other motives. God is always good, so let’s not be complainers. We should praise Him at every turn (James 1:2-4).
As we consistently trust and obey the Lord, just like the psalmist, we can look forward to God "increasing our greatness."
We are temples of the Holy Spirit, and as such, we are already distinguished and remarkable. Yes, we're surely great, but God wants to turn the dial of our brightness way on up past high. He wants to increase our voltage tremendously....
