Arise, shine; for your light has come!  And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you - Isaiah 60:1.

A Sweet Aroma

Foxy, my feral cat, was born and raised in the wild. He is extremely cautious of people and is only social with me. For two years, I was merely "the food lady," but now I'm Foxy's very best friend. This handsome male cat comes inside at least once a day for back scratches and pampering. During our snuggle time, I like to press my face into Foxy's beautiful fur because he smells so good. Like all cats, Foxy keeps himself very clean. And to top this off, he wears the scent of grass and all things botanical. Foxy smells like where he spends his time. This is also true of humans. It's certainly true in the natural, and I believe it's true in the spiritual realm as well. We pick up the scent of good and evil—metaphorically, that is. Christians spend time in the unsaved world for many important reasons. But we need to wash in God's Word at the end of each day and go to bed smelling sweet. And time spent with the Lord each morning assures that our scent is fresh and clean for the coming day. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing - 2 Corinthians 2:15. Have you ever wondered why some people dislike you, for no apparent reason, while others are drawn to you right away? It might just be the "fragrance of Christ" that you wear. To those who are being drawn to God, Spirit-filled Christians smell quite nice. But to those who are not, our scent can be repugnant.
