Arise, shine; for your light has come!  And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you - Isaiah 60:1.

Where is Your Comfort Zone?

We all want to be comfortable and content. It's simply human nature. Obtaining these things is a strong motivation for some and the only motivation for others. Advertisers target our desire for physical and emotional fulfillment. If we will only buy what they offer, then we'll be happy, relaxed, satisfied and safe. We'll also smell good and look like supermodels. In time, we find these products delivering much less than promised. Some work temporarily, and others don't work at all. Sadly, we fall for many scams before we finally wise up. Well then, if merchandise can't make us feel warm, comfy and content, we'll have to take firm control of our personal world to keep discomfort at a distance. We'll erect a high wall of rules and order. We'll use our superior intellect to carve out a superior life—eating the right food, reading the right books, following the right leaders, and finding comfort in how exceedingly savvy we are. But to all of these good intentions, a day of reckoning comes. In His great mercy, God lets the promise of commerce fail, and He pokes holes in the walls of our well-constructed forts. Then—He knocks on our doors and asks to come in. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me - Revelation 3:20. God doesn't need to advertise. He can always get our attention—quite often by pushing us out of our precarious homemade comfort zones. He doesn't mind putting us in difficult places that require us to reach for His hand. Don't be surprised to hear the Lord say, "Choose Me to be your comfort zone. Come to Me often to drink and dine. Before long, you'll find that I am your favorite place."
