Arise, shine; for your light has come!  And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you - Isaiah 60:1.

Let's Get Creative

Photographing traffic on the interstate at night is always fun. The creative possibilities are far-reaching. Of course, since God has been creative from the beginning of time, He passed this valuable attribute on to His children. We see proof of it throughout the world, in almost endless expression. Some may think that human creativity is limited to things like photography, painting or home decor. And if we're so inclined, we might reach farther to architecture, engineering or a form of science to exhibit our ingenuity. All of these things are good, but God has even more for us. Instead of limiting us to physical materials for use in drawing, building and even growing things, He invites us to a higher domain with a loftier purpose. As born-again Christians, we have prime access to the creative, restorative power of God's written Word. Every verse is a building block—every precept is a tool. Instead of settling for what we see around us, we can use the Word to bring much-needed change. First, we flip the power-switch of faith, then we ask the Holy Spirit to hand us the proper tool.

  • By proclaiming the Word, bridges of hope and highways of truth appear.

  • By praying the Word, wounded hearts are healed and broken homes repaired.

  • By teaching the Word, life-giving light shines deep into the darkest night.

  • By prophecy (aligned with the Word), God's plan for tomorrow is announced.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them - Ephesians 2:10.

As the Bride of Christ, our time on Earth is practice for the work of eternity—for all that we'll do as co-heirs and co-rulers with our glorious Lord. Today, let's pick up the Word and use it to build something beautiful.
