Arise, shine; for your light has come!  And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you - Isaiah 60:1.

God's Desire to Answer Prayer

As children, my sisters and I would sometimes play church. We had visited an Episcopal service and were captivated by the formal ceremony, especially the lighting of candles. Now as an adult, when I go into my prayer room to talk with God, I always light a candle, even if daylight is streaming in. I do this to mark the time as special—as being worthy of candlelight—and to invite the Holy Spirit. I've done this for several years, so now in my interaction with the Lord, candles symbolize prayer. For example, the Spirit speaks to me often through visions (mental images), and candles show up in the scenes when He's revealing details of how to intercede. I imagine that God lights candles too. When we set apart time to be with Him, He values our effort and always responds with love. The flames from His holy candelabra send beautiful light and truth to us and to those we pray for. This fire of the Lord cannot be snuffed out by any man. We must never underestimate God's desire to answer our prayer. He is waiting for us to intercede so He can set His response in motion. And guess what! When our prayers align with God's will, His answers are bigger and better than what we request. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours - Mark 11:24 ESV.
