Speak Life, Not Death
Christians are called to speak creative words of life into our personal domains. We should always be voicing positive, uplifting words over our family, friends, associates, church, town, state, country, and even distant lands as inspired by the Spirit. (Corrective words are okay if directed by God and spoken in love.) To consistently speak negative, critical words is contrary to God’s will. Those who insist on spewing their harsh judgments are in rebellion, and scripture calls this witchcraft. Refusing to speak life by giving someone the silent treatment is also rebellion and therefore witchcraft. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry - 1 Samuel 15:23 NKJV. We are made in the image of God, and we should behave as such. In my experience, the Lord has been my biggest fan—my most devoted cheerleader. He has put in my heart the desire to encourage others, just as He's done for me. What about you? Which path of influence will you walk upon? Will your tongue inspire and establish new life, or will it destroy the fragile growth around you? Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life] – Proverbs 18:21 AMPC.
